Hi friends! Old and new!
It’s been a little while since I’ve shown my face around here. So I thought now is as good a time as any to say hello!
I’m currently taking a moment to myself out on the back porch, wine glass in hand. I love a dry red wine.
I’ve been reflecting a lot lately, mostly about my kids and how hard it is to believe tomorrow they (we) start a new chapter… Middle School for one and last year of middle for the other! Sigh!
But also reflecting on something that I think of often, a topic that as both brought me to my knees at times (feeling so unworthy) and other times giving me more strength & confidence on this business journey of mine.
To sum it up in one word, CHEF.
Four letters that in my heart carry huge weight. You see… I’m a self taught cake artist/ baker and the word Chef has always been such a sacred word to me. I wasn’t classically trained and I don’t have extensive experience in a commercial kitchen.
I have literally taught myself all the things via a google search bar (as @msrachelhollis would say) and trial and error. Lots of error, by the way, I have actually done extensive research on the topic. If that tells you anything about my personality. Research about wether or not it was offensive for a non “educated/trained” baker to be called a Chef.
Believe me… there are sooooo many opinions on the subject.
And from the bottom of my heart I would never want to offend anyone. Education is so important, don’t get me wrong. But I leave you with these simple thoughts… There are some truly amazing people that have been called to do extraordinary things that have never been formally trained.
God doesn’t always call the qualified, He qualifies the called.

Did you know… Rachel Ray, Guy Fieri, Tom Colicchio, Paula Deen, and Gordon Ramsey to name a few, never attended culinary school. #neverletitholdyouback Step into who you were called to be Friend!
